VISIT THE SANCTUARY

Clark Street Beach Bird Sanctuary (CSBBS) is located on Sheridan Road in Evanston, just south of the Northwestern University campus. It is on the east side of the road, between the beach and the bike path, and just north of Evanston's Clark Street beach house (1811 Sheridan Road).  

The sanctuary is fenced in, and only volunteers have access inside. However, birds and plants are easily viewed from the wheelchair-accessible path outside the fence. An informational kiosk is located at a bump-out along this path, and you can learn much more about birds spotted in or near the sanctuary through the bird page on this website or the CSBBS hot spot on eBird.

We also offer group tours by appointment. Contact us if you are interested in a tour.

Parking is available on the street. Free parking is available in Northwestern University lots after 4 pm on weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday.
